Data management

This subsystem is basically made up of a card mounted in the equipment box and the on-board computer program. The data management subsystem is in charge of taking the data, processing it, storing it, governing the modem and controlling all the other active subsystems according to the program included in the memories and the commands sent from the ground. This subsystem consists of a data acquisition and control module, a computer, and the internal sensors and RS232 interface.

The data acquisition and control module has 54 automatic inputs and 3 digital inputs, 4 automatic outputs and 19 digital outputs, all of them related to the measurements and controls of the liquid bridge experiment, the attitude control subsystem, the power subsystem , as well as with temperature measurements and communications with the modem. The internal sensor module receives 3 temperature signals and 2 power supply signals, and the RS232 interface receives the digital signals for data reception and transmission.

In the data acquisition, treatment and control system, an 80C31 (Matra-Harris) processor at 7 Mhz has been used, with MIL STD 883 qualification, with 256 kbytes of SRAM memory and 64 kbytes of EEPROM memory for the programs, monitoring, 64 channels of digital conversion, 14-bit resolution, 24 digital outputs and 8 digital inputs, and 4 channels of digital-to-digital conversion. Communications with the modem are asynchronous at 9600 bps.
